2006 Season - Week 15

Lamar Hunt RIP

Lamar Hunt, Owner of the Kansas City Chiefs died last week aged 74. He is described as one of the founding fathers of the modern game. In 1960 when NFL owners rebuffed Hunt's attempt to buy a franchise and move it to Dallas, Lamar ignoring his father's advice, founded the AFL. In 1966 the NFL and AFL merged giving us the league we know today and in his honour the winners of the AFC are awarded The Lamar Hunt Trophy. They then play in the NFL Championship game that Lamar Hunt christened “The Superbowl”. Record Breakers Congratulations to LaDainian Tomlinson who scored 2 more TD’s on Sunday and now has an NFL record 31 TD’s this season scoring an NFL & BUMS season record 192 points. He still has 2 games to play. Congratulations also go to Morten Andersen who kicked 4 PAT’s on Saturday and increased his career points total to 2,437 passing Gary Anderson for the NFL’s all-time lead. Meantime this weekend Giants Running Back Tiki Barber became just the third player ever to rush for 10,000 & receive for 5,000 yards in his career. The other 2 are Marcus Allen & Marshall Faulk. Hall Of Fame Old School All of this talk of records reminds me that your Old School votes are required by the end of the year. All you have to do is vote for your favourite top 7 in order from the names attached to last weeks newsletter. The 14 highest will form the Hall of Fame - Old School. Injured Reserve Arizona have put Tight End Adam Bergen on IR meaning AP can sign a new player to replace him. Mark also as the chance to replace RB Kevin Jones. They must stay inside the $10m budget & get any change to me before the start of the Thursday night game. Xmas BUMS on Seats. Negotiations with Inaugural Hall of Fame Owner have been ongoing after yet again some berk scheduled Xmas & New Year to coincide with the end of the NFL season and Cheryl says this is what we can do. We’ll meet at BUMS HQ on Sunday (Xmas Eve) from 3:30pm for the recorded Chiefs Raiders game from the night before followed by Sky’s Doubleheader of New England @ Jacksonville & Cincinnati @ Denver. The red key games are New Orleans @ NY Giants & San Diego @ Seattle. However you must all be gone by midnight, before Santa arrives. Sky are then showing the 2 final games of the weekend live on Christmas Day. They both have major playoff implications as Dallas host Philadelphia and Miami entertain The Jets. These will be recorded & we will watch them at BUMS HQ on Wednesday December 27th from 4pm. HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL.
